reverie
/revərē/
noun (pl) -eries
1. an act or state of absent-minded daydreaming, a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts; a daydream.
2. an instrumental music piece suggesting a dreamy or musing state.
3. (archaic) a fantastic, visionary, or impractical idea.
Reverie, one of our new collaborative pieces, captures the mood of an autumn afternoon daydream when golden sunlight filters through trees and leaves float on gentle breezes. It will be featured on Hahnemühle USA’s social media during the week starting 2/22/16.

The underlying structure of Reverie was inspired by Trance music, a genre of electronic music that evolved out of House, Techno and Ambient. Trance continues to influence a wide variety of popular music genres today. Classic Trance is characterized by a 4/4 time signature with a tempo ranging from 125 to 150 beats per minute and beat/melodic phrasing that produces a very rhythmic, atmospheric quality.
Dave created the textural structure for Reverie based on a sawtooth waveform which is often used in Trance compositions. Representational elements from several of Paula’s photographs were then worked into that structure to produce a dreamy sense of being lost in thought on a beautiful autumn afternoon. See our blog for more information on the techniques we use to create our work.
Hope you are having a wonderful winter season!
