The brightness and hustle of summer’s days lapse from water’s edge into the Big Calm – a time of quiet beauty celebrated at the edge of fall and again on the cusp of spring.

We’re excited our new work will be available at Edgewood Orchard in Fish Creek as they open for the new season Saturday, May 7 at 10am.  Light refreshments will be served.

Hahnemühle, Ekphrasis & Minnetonka

Hahnemühle selects Theremin for display at PhotoPlus Expo

We are pleased to announce that one of Dave’s works, Theremin, was selected by Hahnemühle USA for exhibition at PhotoPlus Expo in New York City. Theremin has previously won awards in national and international competition. It was awarded the Digital Art Guild Award at The Museum of the Living Artist at the San Diego Art Institute’s 51st International Exhibition. Theremin was also awarded an Honorable Mention by juror Christine Paul at the national juried competition, Digital Works, at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in New Jersey. Photo Op on view at Minnetonka Center for the Arts

We loved that we were able to attend the opening reception of Photo Op. The Laura H. Miles Gallery was beautifully hung with a number of photographic works from each of the 15 artists. We were pleased to be able to chat with the other artists and more pleased to share the night with all the friends and family who came to the opening. It was a lovely mix of artists and art lovers. Thanks for coming!

The show remains on view through October 28. The Minnetonka Center for the Arts is open daily from 9am to 4pm as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 9:30pm. There is a cafe on site that serves a limited menu of fresh items weekdays from 9:30am to 1:30pm.

Ekphrasis – Art/Speaks
As we mentioned last month, Edgewood Orchard Galleries is hosting a benefit show for Write On, Door County. As part of the exhibit, Write On is hosting its first-ever ekphrasis challenge, Art/Speaks. Ekphrasis is a literary description of, or a commentary on, a visual work of art. Write On and Edgewood are encouraging everyone to write to the artwork in the galleries and sculpture garden and submit the results to Write On. Selected works will be posted.

The event began Saturday, September 26 and it was fun to see Edgewood full of prospective writers as well as art lovers. For those of you who cannot get to the gallery, Write On is featuring nine works on its website. We’re happy to say that our collaborative work, Walk this Way, is one of those. So sharpen your pencils, fire up the laptop, or break out the tablet; check out the images online or better yet, head over to Edgewood Orchard and let your inner poet or essayist be inspired by all of the beautiful artwork on display for this benefit show.

Edgewood Orchard (4140 Peninsula Players Road, Fish Creek) is open 10-5 daily through Sunday, November 1. The Write On Benefit Show (10% of all exhibit sales to Write On) is held in conjunction with the annual Gifts from the Heart group show.
