2011 Dane County Art Poster

2011 Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission Art Poster
We are extremely honored that Dave’s work was selected for the 2011 Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission annual art poster.  Each year, for over three decades, the Commission’s annual art poster has showcased a different local artist. This year’s poster commemorates the 175th Anniversary of Dane County.   The poster is 30″ x 24.5″ and is available to the public by voluntary donation at Room 421 of the City-County Building in Madison and in multiple municipal halls countywide.  We will also have a limited number of posters available at the studio.  Give us a shout if you would like us to hold one for you.  Poster donations help support the Commission’s mission and programs: fostering public participation, increasing access, and forging alliances in support of local arts, culture and history.  See http://www.culturalaffairscommission.com/publications/poster.aspx for the Commission’s description of the poster.

We are excited that “Theremin” from Dave’s Electronic Music Series was accepted for the 51st International Exhibition held at the Museum of the Living Artist at the San Diego Art Institute.  Since 1955, the San Diego Art Institute has produced a juried International Exhibition that draws artists from all over the world.  Awards are presented at the Museum’s International Gala Celebration on 4/16 from 6pm to 8pm.

Spring Gallery Night
We will be once again opening the studio on Friday May 6th from 5-9pm for Spring Gallery Night sponsored by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.  This year we are privileged to have Martha Manson Lowe join us for the evening.  Martha is an Iowa artist whose beautiful basketry weaves colorful reed strands, seagrass, and driftwood handles into timeless designs.  Dave will be showing several new works along with works selected for the 2011 Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission poster.

National Juried Exhibitions
Several of Dave’s works have been selected for national juried exhibitions so far this year including Americas 2011: Paperworks, Midwest Seasons 2011, Systems, and Arts in Harmony. See www.CartaStudioWorks.com for more info.
