What an experience to walk into the Textural Patois exhibition and see Dave’s 2D work complementing a room full of tactile 3D work.  The juror, Susie Ganch, a metal sculptor, predominately chose sculpture and jewelry to explore the exhibition’s theme – using texture as a visual language.  As I mentioned in a previous blog entry about this exhibit, both Dave and I felt that “Dismembered Lakes” and ” Crushed by the Blues” emphasize both texture and color to give the pieces meaning.  I’m glad the juror saw that texture in a two-dimensional photographic print and included Dave’s work in the exhibition.

UW Oshkosh, especially the Gallery Director Andrew Redington, and his assistant, Anna Hill, put together a great show.  The opening reception was well-attended and we enjoyed looking at the work of two dozen artists.  Susie Ganch was able to attend and discuss her reasoning for choosing a variety of the pieces. We also enjoyed seeing and hearing about her work in the “Bits and Pieces” (February 2 – 27) solo show in the Annex Gallery.

Thanks to everyone who worked on this exhibition.  Look for video from the opening at the Allen Priebe Art Gallery website soon.
